Writing well is hard. Crafting great essays, building an audience, and navigating the online landscape is even harder—especially if you lack time and experience, or if you’re just starting out.

That’s why we created New Voices: an editing and content strategy firm designed to help creatives improve their prose, publish effectively, and amplify their voice to grow a following.

Whether you’re trying to improve your writing, establish yourself as a thought leader, or simply publish more widely, we’re here to demystify the process and help you achieve your goals.

We’ll do this primarily through in-depth, one-on-one writing and coaching support. That support includes strategy calibration, editing, distribution help, promotional support, and assistance making sense of the analytics your writing produces, among other things.

To succeed in writing and thought leadership, it helps to have a partner who cares as much about your words as you do.

That’s the partner we’re here to be.

Meet the Founder

dan-headshot.jpg

Hey! I’m Dan, a writer living in Oakland, CA. My work has appeared in The Bold Italic, Broke Ass Stuart, Fast Company, Business Insider, Edsurge, Crunchbase, Lux, Thought Catalog, Medium.com, and other places around the internet. (You can read more of my writing here.) I’ve written and edited for Fortune 500 CEOs, nonprofits, politicians, musicians, and bestselling authors. I also edit the online magazine PS I Love You, which last month had more than 2.5 million unique visitors, and garners more than 50,000 pageviews everyday.

More importantly, I just love to write. And I remember quite clearly how frustrating it was trying to gain traction back when I was starting out. Questions zapped around my head: What makes for a good essay? What are interesting essays about? And how are you supposed to go about building a following online, a project that requires somehow standing out among the literal millions of other writers trying to do the exact same thing?

With New Voices, my team and I desire only to impart what lessons we’ve learned on our respective journeys, and more generally help creatives who are as inspired as we are avoid the pitfalls that beguiled us in the beginning. We want to help you find your voice, and then share it compellingly. And we’ll meet you where you are. We believe writing to be a valuable and even sacred craft that not nearly enough smart and talented people try to utilize––either because they don’t believe themselves capable of doing it effectively or because they don’t think they have the time.

Simply put, you are capable, and you can find the time. We’ll help.

Testimonials

“Dan and his team have improved my life in three significant ways. First, they helped me discover stories in myself that I didn't know existed. Second, they helped me truly understand the power that great writing has to improve a company's performance. And lastly, as a coach, Dan has helped me confidently refine and articulate my unique message. He cares about excellent writing, but even more, he cares about authentic expression. Hire this team. You'll be glad you did.”

“When I first started working with Dan, it was clear from day one that he truly cared about my success and wanted the best for my writing. When it comes to flushing out ideas there is no one better. I foresee working with Dan well into the future and I can't recommend working with him enough.”

- Michael Thompson, career coach, top writer on Medium

“When it comes to using prose to convey a message, Dan knows what he's doing. He's helped my team and I at Honey better share our story and more effectively articulate our ethos. He's gotten our work in front of large national audiences, too. He's a talented writer and editor, but more importantly, he's an effective thought partner.”

- Glen Allison, COO of Honey
